April 30, 1939 - July 12, 2026

Bernard "Bernie" Vincent Kimsal passed away peacefully on July 12, 2026, at the age of 87, surrounded by his loving family. A devoted husband to Teresa for 58 years, Bernie was a proud father, grandfather, brother, and friend whose greatest joy was spending time with those he loved.

A man of deep Catholic faith, Bernie was an active member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Berwick, serving as its first Eucharistic Minister, teaching CCD for 25 years, and mentoring fellow lectors. He was also a lifelong member of the Knights of Columbus, where he formed lasting friendships through decades of service.

Bernie built a successful career in sales, earning the respect of colleagues throughout the Northeast through his hard work, integrity, and warm personality. Outside of work, he loved gardening, fishing, hunting, golfing, and caring for his beautiful yard. Family vacations, holiday traditions, and gatherings with relatives and friends were among his greatest treasures.

Bernie will be remembered for his unwavering faith, generous heart, quick wit, and willingness to help others. His kindness and love left a lasting mark on everyone who knew him.

Mary Lou Melchiorre [Lovecchio Branch]
December 13, 1958 - June 23, 2026

Mary Lou went peacefully with the Angels to her eternal rest on June 23, 2026, after a long and courageous battle with lung cancer. She was at home surrounded by her loving husband and family.

She was born on December 13, 1958, in Berwick PA to her parents Lawrence M, Sr and Jacqueline A Lovecchio Melchiorre. Mary Lou was a graduate of Berwick High School, Class of 1976. There, she was actively involved as a Color Guard with the School Band and a variety of civic and social organizations. After high school, she attended Central Penn Business School in Summerdale, PA where she earned an Associates Degree. Her career began in Berwick, Bloomsburg and eventually ended up in the York area with Barley and Snyder Law Firm as a Real Estate Paralegal, where she met her husband, John Bo Bowman, who was a Realtor. They eventually joined forces with Berkshire Hathaway Realty and became two of the most respected and popular Realtors in the York area.

Mary Lou was passionate about so many things, first and foremost was her faith. She was an active member of St Mary’s Immaculate Conception RC Church for many years. There she served as an Extraordinary Minister to one of the local nursing homes and also volunteered at the church's Thrift Store. Mary Lou was dedicated to her husband John (Bo). They would have been married 30 years September 6, 2026. Together they loved traveling, finding different and out of the way places to dine, and entertaining family and friends. Their doors were always opened to their lovely and comfortable home. Mary Lou was definitely a sun person who loved the warmer months and would find any excuse to be at a pool or beach even during the winter. She was dedicated to her work as a Realtor and treated every client with the consideration and attention as if they were her only client. She loved working in her flower and vegetable gardens, shopping and cooking traditional family recipes as well as attempting new ones. But one of her most favorite things was sitting on a deck, at the beach, watching the sun set, with family, and a martini.

Alice Mae (Bright) Lovecchio
November 15, 1952 - April 12, 2026

Alice Mae Lovecchio passed away peacefully on April 12, 2026, surrounded by her loving family. Born in Lewisburg, Pennsylvania, to Herbert C. and Gertrude Nelly (Gray) Bright, Alice graduated from Warrior Run High School in 1970 before earning her Bachelor of Arts degree from The Pennsylvania State University in 1974. She built a successful career as a graphic designer, contributing her artistic talents to organizations including Jostens Yearbook Company, Bucknell University, Colonial Printing House, and Anchor Printing. After becoming a mother, Alice devoted herself to raising her family while continuing to pursue freelance graphic design.

A woman of deep Catholic faith, Alice was a devoted member and former Eucharistic Minister at St. Robert Bellarmine Catholic Church. She found joy in serving others and living her faith through quiet acts of kindness and dedication to her family and community. Her creativity extended far beyond her profession. She loved photography, cross-stitch, gardening, reading, and caring for her beloved dogs and birds. Whether leading Girl Scout troops, participating in a bowling league, or sharing recommendations from a favorite book, Alice brought warmth, generosity, and enthusiasm to everything she did.

Above all, Alice treasured her roles as a devoted wife, loving mother, and proud grandmother. She especially cherished family vacations, game nights, and the countless moments spent together creating lasting memories. Her unwavering support, gentle spirit, artistic gifts, and enduring faith touched everyone who knew her. Alice is lovingly remembered by her husband of 49 years, Joseph; her children, Joseph Jr., Maria, and Michael; her grandchildren, Kayleigh, Annabel, Lucy, and Matthew; and all whose lives were enriched by her kindness, creativity, and love.

Jacqueline Assunta Melchiorre [Lovecchio Branch]
September 20, 1928 – December 9, 2025

Jacqueline Assunta Melchiorre passed away on December 9, 2025, at the age of 97. Born and raised in Berwick, she was the daughter of Antonio and Teresa (Massimo) Lovecchio and a proud graduate of Berwick High School. She worked as a beautician before spending many years with Eudora Corset in Berwick.

A woman of deep Catholic faith, Jacqueline was a devoted member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, where she served with the Ladies Council, Altar and Rosary Society, Blue Army, and as a volunteer in the Holy Family School library. She was also a steadfast supporter of the Pro-Life movement.

Jacqueline loved cooking, crafting, and, above all, spending time with her family. She was preceded in death by her husband of 34 years, Lawrence M. Melchiorre, Sr., and her son, Anthony. She is lovingly remembered by her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and all who were blessed by her kindness, faith, and devotion to family.

Ronald M. DeMelfi [Romeo Branch]
b. 1938 - d. Nov 21, 2025

Ronald M. DeMelfi passed away on November 21, 2025, at the age of 87. Born in Berwick to Vincent and Regina (Romeo) DeMelfi, Ron was a standout athlete at Berwick High School before earning a football scholarship to George Washington University, where he received All-Conference honors and was named the Andy Davis Award recipient as the Colonial Player of the Year.

Ron's lifelong passion for football led him to a distinguished coaching career at Central Dauphin High School, George Washington University, and the University of North Carolina, where he helped guide the Tar Heels to their first ACC Championship in 1971 and first 11-win season in 1972. After returning home to Pennsylvania, he spent more than five decades as owner and operator of Hayhurst Memorials in Bloomsburg.

A devoted member of St. Columba Catholic Church, Ron cherished time with his wife of 64 years, Susan, their family, and many friends. Whether walking the beaches of Sanibel Island or talking football with anyone he met, his warm smile, friendly spirit, and genuine kindness left a lasting impression. He will be remembered as a devoted husband, proud father and grandfather, accomplished coach, and lifelong ambassador for the Berwick community.
